From next year, student teachers at the University of Wuppertal will once again be able to take part in the theory-practice project “Civil Courage and Violence Prevention/Antiracist Educational Work”. The training, which will be supervised by social pedagogue Prof Dr Heinz Sünker, will take place over eight weekend seminars from March to November 2025. Registration is now open.

Strengthening democracy education – promoting social learning
The training programme is aimed at educational professionals, student teachers and volunteers who want to teach socio-political topics in a practical way. In eight weekend seminars, participants are prepared to creatively and effectively organise social and political education processes in their work with children, young people and adults.
Content and focus
In addition to theoretical foundations, the training programme offers practical units that provide an opportunity for participants to try out what they have learned on their own. With many practical exercises and methods, participants delve deep into socially relevant topics.

The project is a cooperation between the Institute for Educational Sciences at the University of Wuppertal and the Berg-Mark Regional Office for Work and Life and has been running successfully for over ten years.
